New member introduction with pics and some questions
Hello Forum,
I have been perusing now for quite some time. Really like the community here and am sure that I will be making use of the parts thread soon... Anyways, Im here in Arkansas and my Dad just bought me a 1972 gmc. My wife and I needed a second car and I am so excited to have something tinker with... I used to be a vw man but it seems Ive turned American. The trim and the bumpers i got off craigslist from a nice gentleman down the road. He gave them to me off his 1969 chevy. Will these fit? I plan on cleaning up the side moulding and hammer out the bumper. I dont think Ill be able to re-chrome it but I think it will be alright. Anyways, couple of questions. I have read on here that the best way to clean these mouldings is oven cleaner? Is that right? Is there a good way to repaint them to black instead of the wood tape? What do you guys think I should do? I think its worth the trouble to try and salvage these mouldings and bumpers...but then again I dont know Thanks all! |
