Flow(Masters?)

Well I wanted to replace the cheapass
parts store mufflers currently on my
69 C10 P/U with 350/th350. They are light
guage metal and sound like it. So I bought
a set of 50 series Flowmasters. There seem
to be rather strong opinions on these mufflers
but compared to the crapola that I have on
now, they're an improvement. (They were
on sale to boot)

My question is...do I have to put a continous
bead around each joint or can I tack weld
each joint instead?

Also...do they tend to run higher temperatures
than other mufflers? Will I have to use heat shields?
