I've heard people use the term fishplate several times unless I mistaken fishplating is a reenforcement plate wield onto the frame with holes in it and essentially boxing the frame. What I am doing is putting a backing plate directly behind my joint approximately 32" long and about 1/4" thick. I hope that answers your question. I believe its important to make the frame a little bit more rigid in this part of the frame to help prevent the cab from twisting. I will say however I can't imagine my 2nd gen cabs twisting at all because of the way I build them. They are very rigid.
