Ignition lock removal 1973 GMC

Hey all,

Trying to remove my ignition lock cylinder and having an issue. I read another great thread on how to do this but I am missing either common sense or a step that wasn't shown.
From my understanding, there is a torx screw on the other side of this housing, but for the life of me, I can't get to it. I have enough play in the wiring to the turn signal piece, but it will not pull out any further. I think it is due to the piece on the top of the steering column shown in the pictures.
Please see attached pics

Thanks guys for any suggestions
