1962 Slow Start Project
So, I got this truck from my wife's family. Her grandfather bought in new in 62/63. It has been sitting for the past few years neglected so I am looking forward to restoring it to its formal glory. He had installed some heavy springs on the rear and put a 350 in it.
So far I have just been doing some stop gap maintenance on it. - New battery after it ran out of gas picking it up. Thank goodness for the sign waiver and jogger who help push roll it the last 20 yards of the 75 my friend and I pushed. Heavy SOB! - New oil and filter - General cleanup. Glass, moss on front, spider webs, dash, etc. - Removed "push" bar, convex mirror, and broken dash tach - Flappy Wheeled surface rust and primed. - Some other rust proofing on interior Overall this is a food truck. It needs attention but drives just fine. I have discovered some hidden rust in door lower and hood so I am pretty positive there are some more surprises to come. Next steps are to continue removing surface rust and priming and a little engine work. Also, making plans for what this truck will eventually turn into after some time. It as to wait since we just had a baby. Hoping later this year I can get into. In the meantime I like to share ![]() Pic of its first night here: ![]() After Some of the work was done: ![]() Posted via Mobile Device |
