Back to a daily

The transmission on my daily driver, a 2001 Jetta Wagon with the VR6/auto, is on it's death bed. I took it to a shop yesterday and they said that it has a code for a bad solenoid in the transmission but he doesn't feel it's worth spending the money to fix it since it may or may not fix the issue. Apparently the transmissions in these are problematic and tend to need some major work around 150,000 miles. Mine is at 148,000 and needs a few other things as well. A reman VW transmission is $4,600. I paid $3,500 for the car. He's recommendation is to sell it as is.

So, I can't afford another car right now, so I'm back to driving the Blazer as a daily driver for a while.
