New fuel issue

I went to town and picked up my new compressor the other day. The truck drove fine. It's about a 20 minute drive to Lowes. I loaded up the compressor and when I pulled out of the lot the truck died. I fired it up and it went about 20 feet and died. I fired it up again and had to pump the gas to keep it running for another 20 feet then it died again and I had to coast into the lot. When I tried to start it again it would try to start when I would pump the gas. I took the fuel line off the carb and no gas leaked out. I took the line off the filter and nothing came out. After a couple of minutes gas started leaking out of the filter. I put it back together and it fired right up and I drove it home without any issues. Fuel pump going out? Clogged filter? Vapor lock? I figure it has to be one or more of the 3. Any help would be a help. Help.
