'71 Blazer Original Fuel Line Help

I am having a hell of a time getting my replacement fuel lines figured out and hooked up properly. I am going with all original reproduction lines from Inline Tube with the same bends and all, but something just isn't adding up. It seems the return line is hooking up to a line that wraps around the tank and exits out the back on the drivers side, rather than hooking directly up to the tank like I thought it should. See pic of the original setup below. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? Anyone have any photos or diagrams of how the original fuel lines were/are supposed to be set up? Any help is appreciated. I'm a tad lost.
