*69* stepper build
First off... sorry for the lack of a fancy name in the thread title. There's just not too many ways to say thats its going to be the sickest truck in the world!!!!!! ...in my eyes. It's my first resto mod truck so bear with me.
It's a 69 C 10 Step, I dragged it out of Saticoy for you locals, its in Ventura CA. $400. Its in my garage that is no bigger than a parking space here in SD. Pretty much sucks but its the best way for me to keep wrenching on it. The frame is sound, the body just has a little surface rust and some bumps and bruises that can be worked out. Waiting on my 4/6 Drop kit from ECE, should be here this week. Along with new a new front end I pieced together, no Eastern import parts either, all Moog. Bolting those up to a solid set of DJM tubular control arms. Lowers are 3" already. Next is brakes and I'm pretty sold on CPP's Big Brake Kit. Drilled and slotted disc's all around. I'll be on the hunt for a 18/20 5 spoke rally wheel set up as well. So far I've read nothing but good reviews on that brake kit, can't say the same for customer service though....I'll take my chances none the less. As for now looking for a shop to take my block and head to get machined. Im going to do the rebuild myself instead of a shop. There are a few companys offering what seem to be great rebuild kits out there like Grumpy's, Titan etc... my internal mods were going to be flat top 307 pistons and a "mildish" cam. Ive read here on the forums that mild camming a straight 6 can bog it out at low RPM's so I can do without. It is going to be a DD afterall. |
