Manual 5 speed conversion?

I am thinking about putting a manual 5 speed tranny into my 72 k20. I like the idea of being able to bang through the gears and also be able to have overdrive in the truck. I was thinking about most likely picking up a 90's 5 speed from the junk yard or something and swapping them out. I have never done anything like this before and I would love some opinions from guys who have done this. Was it worth the hassle? Also what is the best way to go about doing it? The truck still has the original 351 and the TH350 in it right now. Thanks for the help!
