Gas Gauge Problem Fixed!!!!

I found a solution to my gas gaue problem!!! My gas gauge was reading way off after I painted the green part white (it worked right before). When I put the gauges back together I put the resistor on, then washers and nuts, then the circuit card, then washers and nuts. That was the problem!! When I ohmed out the posts (with the gauges setup), they came back at approx 45. When I ohmed the gauge out by itself I got approx. 87. When I ohmed out the resistor I got approx. 87. When I put them together I got Approx. 87. When I screwed down the resistor I got approx 87. then I added the circuit card and screwed it down and got approx 45 again. I took off the nuts and then took the nuts off of the resistor and put the circuit card directly on the resistor. Then I bolted it down. This ohmed out at approx. 87!!! I installed the gauge and it went right to the correct level!!!! Turns out the extra nuts and washers were causing more impedence. Weird!! Hope this helps someone else!!!
