Lambrecht: fact or fiction?
I did go down to this auction with no plans of buying any truck as high as it was already on proxy before we went down. Hanging around the main row of trucks I heard a mix of info related to the condition and original ordering of the plain 6 cyl. 4 speed no radio trucks rotting away. One main theme came out is that the man was tight or cheap. The planned nest egg idea was just dumb luck to me.
Ok, back to the Trucks. Most of the main row had no wood in the beds. What I am saying is that they never did. The story goes that he found out how to order them without and had a local guy install them cheaper for him than the factory. I think this is true because on these trucks there is no trace of any wood anywhere. The junk trucks around and other ones have traces somewhere. As far as the condition goes not to many of the rims will ever hold air again rusting in the dirt. Oem hubcaps will be in demand. I saw many mint,no dent hubcaps with a 1/4 of them gone to rust. Most of the rearends had nothing over them. Radiators gone on most. Heater cores on some . These are the trucks that sold for 20 and up. One custom cab BBW sold for 39 and it also only had a six. I stood there with guys who deal in just 60-66 trucks and we all just shook our heads. I would be curious to see how the new owners will try to preserve their new/old trucks value(or whatever they think its worth.) Crazy is all I can say. Any other tidbits? |
