Repurposed an A/C compressor shield
I picked up an A/C compressor shield the other day off of a 72 Buick. I've see similar ones posted before, but none that looked like this. The first pic is how I found it. It looks to me like its purpose was to guard the heater hose from the compressor. It doesn't cover the top where I think it would be more functional as a shield against oil sling. I cleaned it up and turned it 90 degrees clockwise and mounted it on my 72 BBC. Not only does it still block the heater hose on my truck, it also puts the largest portion above the pulley and blocks oil sling. The best thing I like, however, is that it looks symmetrical to the 72 alternator bracket, like it belongs there in the first place. The only "modification" I had to make was switching to the top post on the battery as opposed to the side, as the bracket hits the side post cable...no biggie as my battery has dual posts.
