Unhappy Paint on the glove box I.D.

I bought a 1970 stepside from a guy locally a few weeks ago. The story on the 1970 truck was the guy traded his 4X4 truck for it. He drove it for about a year and a half he says. Then he parked it. His son decides he wants the truck. So the kid goes in and just starts taking stuff out that just didn't need to be messed with. He took out the DASH WIRING HARNESS! because it had a few bad wires, so he tells his Dad. He starts painting the inside of the cab black, gets paint everywhere inside. On the bottom of the windshield,on the door windows. Mostly overspray. He even painted over the I.D. Tag on the inside of the glovebox lid! I mean this kid went spray paint happy. His Dad was not a happy camper. So he decided to sell it. Thats when I bought it. The truck is in very good shape. 350/350 with a 12 bolt posi. Descent paint job (outside.) Anyway the question I was wanting to ask, is there anyway possible to recover the data from the tag on the glovebox lid? Or maybe submit the VIN number and have a new one made? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but if so then I guess it deserves a stupid answer. LOL,Thanks
