Having problems starting after replacing starter solenoid
So a couple weeks ago, my 78 K10 started fine. The last time I went to use it was to pull a parts car off a trailer that was stuck in park. When I went to go hook up the tow strap the truck puttered out and I thought it was just because I cold started it without choke. I tried starting it after it shut off and nothing happened, so I believed the starter solenoid was shot.
Today I installed a new solenoid and still NOTHING! The only way we got it to start was hot wiring it using the old screwdriver to the solenoid method. I have no idea what could be wrong after fixing the starter. Could it be a short in the wiring? Ignition? Bad ground somewhere? Someone please help me out here, I really cant afford to take it to the mechanic, since my bank account is pretty low thanks to my car accident last month.
