If it's an 1986 700r4, no you won't have to change your instrument cluster. Pre 1987 used a mechanical speedo cable and 1987-up went electronic IIRC. Easiest way to tell is to look at the drivers side of the tailhousing. If it has a spot for a cable, you're good.

Ok I have an 87 with 700R4 and mine has a cable.Im confused if it were electronic wouldn't it have a digital dash.
