CPP Disc Brake Conversion Question

I purchased a 6 lug front Disc Brake conversion for my 55 2nd. The kit came with bearing adapters and explains how to install them. My question is this: Why do you need bearing adapters if the new bearings you have were made for the spindles and hubs you are using. The adpaters do not fit in the bearings and after mounting everything up to test fit don't really seem to be needed. Has anyone else installed a kit similiar to this and did they actually use the adapters? I've used the search option about a thousand times and came up with nothing related, but I did get of track several times and read some interesting threads in the process. Thanks for any help or advise you can give.
