Moog 6454 HD springs for 1/2 ton drop, works great.
I've done this on a few trucks now, and it works great. Real world results. I cut one coil from new C20 springs for about 2" of drop in a 1/2 ton truck and an awesome sportier ride. When you cut the first coil (on the top) you bring the load rating down to a point where they work great for lowered street trucks. I am not debating the validity of "drop" products but I've been disappointed before with drop springs. I am not talking about heating springs and I don't advocate cutting more than one coil for numerous reasons such as load rating and alignment issues.
The key is MOOG 6454 springs. They start at 13.61" free height, have a load rating of 3841 lbs, and a spring rate of 1060 lbs. There are shorter C20 and C10 big block springs available, but they start a whole inch shorter. Here are the specs. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=200827
