I took two of the shorter rods. Measured the needed length, then cut the two rods to match that length. One end was the z-bar side and the other one was the clutch end. Using the two rods to make one. I then used a redi-rod union nut that was the next size smaller than the diameter of the rods. I used a drill press to drill the threads out of the union nut. Now the inside diameter of the nut matched the rod, I slipped each partial rod into the nut. One from one end, one from the other end, and had them meet in the middle. Clamped them in place and welded together. Now I have a hex nut welded in the middle to hold with a wrench when I need to adjust/loosen the nut and jamb nut. Good luck, Bruce
