Gap between top of grill and bottom of hood question?

Tried search, but could not find anything.

When i first put my 68 c-10 together, i used an aftermarket hood and the fit was not all that great, especially from the bottom leading edge of the hood and the grill towards the center, was told thats the price you pay using aftermarket stuff,so i kinda lived with it but it kept bugging me!!!!

So yesterday i went up to Woody's "southern parts" and we pull an original
about as perfect as you can get for these old trucks, brought it back to the shop and installed it, Well still got the same gap!!!
The grill lines up with the fenders, hood lines up.

HELP and thanks in advance
