1970 Jimmy engine teardown

Hey Jimmy and Blazer folks, I don't get to post very often but I took the upper end apart on my Mom's Jimmy today. I've another project going that needs to be done with my '72 C2500 and thought about using the cam and lifters out of the '70 since I'm going to have new stuff in it. A couple of the lifters were just a little more worn for what I wanted. That is another story. The 350 from the Jimmy was running great when I pulled it, but it had the telltale signs of valve guide wear. Here are some pics of pulling the intake and heads if anyone is interested.

It is obvious that Mom had some service done to it at some time that required the intake to be pulled without my knowledge.

I am hoping that someone here will know if the original head gaskets were steel shim type as that is what was on this engine. Far as I know they had never been off until today and she bought the truck in spring, 1971, and I got my first drivers license in it later that year.

Thanks---DAC
