Is it possible to install a stock trans dipstick?

Like a dumb ass I forgot to install the stock steel trans dipstick and tube prior to installing the trans and engine. I tried for some time to get it in but no dice so I purchased a transgo shorty dipstick (worst decision of my life!!) to get the burb rolling. After one day the dipstick melted off and now I cannot check or add fluid.

Is there a trick to putting in a stock tube with the trans in the truck? Is there another dipstick others recommend?

Anyone have any recommendations on getting a trans pan not to leak? Ive tried 3 gaskets (stock cork, cork and something else, and rubber composite) and 3 oil pans (stock, cast aluminum, 3qt steel) and over night it will leak out a quart and at $15 each its getting pricey!!
