Shims Starting Point

[Misled]

I'm starting to work on putting my 78 C10 stepside back together and need some advice. What is the starting point for the number/width of shims on the upper control arm. I have pics of when I disassembled it but later found out the truck had some tweaking from an early in life wreck so that wouldn't be a good guide.

I do realize that I will need to get an alignment done so I'm just looking for a good starting point.
