CaptainFab Impala rear disc conversion: measurements needed
I am considering going to the Captainfab Impala rear disc brake conversion since everything I have read has been positive. Why I'm considering this conversion is I'm having issues clearing the brake drums while changing a tire. I currently have to pull on my wheel arches to get enough space to shove them in. This won't work once I replace the wheel arches. If you want to see what I'm dealing with click the link to my build thread in the signature and on the current last page you'll see.
Captainfab told me the diameter of Impala rotor is 11.6" where my drums are 13" so I think just that alone would probably solve my issue. I'm running a rear axle out of an 84 c10 that is a 10bolt. I can't remember from doing the axle swap if the axle was 1.5" wider total that my factory 63 axle or if it was 1.5" wider each side. Either way, does anyone have an 80's c10 10bolt rear axle with Captainfab disc conversion that could get me a measurement of their total axle length as well as length from outside edge of the rotor to the outside edge of the other side. What I'm looking for is to see if the disc conversion will be a significant difference in width compared to the drum set up. I'm quickly running out of build $ and would hate to throw a bunch of $ at this to not get the results I'm looking for. Thanks! Jake
