Drive shaft issues pinion angle

I have a 1972 Gmc 1500 long box. The truck has 4" drop springs and 1" blocks in the rear. I raised the carrier bearing (the hanging rubber style) to the high position on the cross member, has anyone else done this? Do people use pinion shims? What does everyone do?
