Bed liner coatings??

Has anyone ever used any of the DIY bed liner coatings?? I know there are a couple I've been looking at, one is from Rustolem, the other is from Duplicolor. I know there are probably more out there. Also could this stuff be used to coat a new fuel tank to help seal and protect it before I install it? I don't really want to go back with the plastic cover that traps dirt and moisture.
