Please direct me toward threads that cover raising our steering boxes

Hi guys, I have been looking through threads looking for info on raising the steering, The info Ive found is a little vague, Ive seen some guys shorten the steering shaft also for some reason>>?

Do you need to add U joints if you raise the box? Do you still need to notch the upper control arm?

Anyway if someone could even just suggest a build thread Id be glad to go look through it,
