Throttle Bottle inlet from PCV valve clogged (Smoke?)
Hi All,
I've got a 87 Chevy R10 305 TBI that has been smoking and burning oil for sure (blue smoke). I haven't driven it much since it started because I didn't want to damage it. Sometimes it will through a huge cloud of smoke on startup and on idle. It also can occur on acceleration at times, but is not consistent.
This was before I discovered the blockage on the inlet to the TBI. I have attached a picture. I had to use a wire to clear the blockage, but the PCV valve which I had replaced previously is functioning now. I know I need to rebuild the TBI, but before I do I would like to get it to stop smoking.
I haven't taking the valve cover off yet, but have heard that drain holes could be blocked. I can only assume that is how the PCV inlet to the TBI got blocked in the first place. Anyone have experience with this? I am going to take the valve covers off soon because otherwise I am at a loss.
