a question for the power steering pump experts....
Hey guys! I am in the process of trying to convert my saginaw pump from a banjo fitting over to a AN fitting. I am having issues with finding the proper fitting. I purchased a 5/8"-18 to 6AN fitting but it doesn't seem right. The problem is the new fitting seems to tighten down on the flare inside the pump far to soon.
Here is a pic of the new fitting on the left and the original banjo fitting that came with the pump. Here is a pic of the inside of the pump showing the male flare and a pic of the fitting in place hand tight. Shouldn't the hex /shoulder part of the fitting bottom out against the back of the pump housing, thus allowing the use of a crush washer. Or does the fitting rely solely on the flares inside for a seal???? What am I missing here? |
