Not real satisfied w/new carpet...question
I installed my new, molded carpet into my 62c10 last Sunday. The carpet was "pre molded" and looks to be a good quality carpet, ordered from a reputable, online auto carpet store. The problem I am having with the carpet is that it is too short in the front. I can clearly see where the transmission hump is molded into the carpet but to set the carpet where the pre molded hump is, the carpet is much too short in the front. When you open the door and look towards the firewall, you can see where the rug isn't up under the dash enough and your looking at the floor board. So, if I pull the rug forward to cover the floorboards, the "molded trans. hump" in the carpet is a good 3" in front of the actual trans hump in the floor of the truck. I filled a couple heavy type rubbish bags with water and let them sit, all week, on the rug over the hump trying to get the rug to take a new shape over the hump. Well, come to the conclusion today, I just am not going to be able to get the rug to remold around the hump. I guess my question is, should I slide the rug back to where the molded hump fits and just try to live with the carpet being too short? Is this how all replacement carpets are and you just have to deal with it? Geesh, I am putting a lot of time and money in my truck over the winter to get it just how I want it and I would have a hard time accepting this. You can't help but see it when you open the door to get into the truck. Should I just eat it and try ordering a new carpet from a diff place? I have already trimmed the carpet up some, assuming it was going to take shape with 10-12 gallons of bagged water sitting on it all week, so I really can't send it back. Pretty discouraged, I busted butt last Sunday trying to make it work. What would you guys do?
