Shortening The Rear Section of a Long Bed

My truck should be arriving in a few weeks and I have been on the fence of making the truck a short bed or maybe cutting a section of the back of the bed off.

I did a crude Photoshop of removing the extended rear of the bed up to the fender, have any of you cut down a bed and if so any issues? It will be interesting shortening up the bed boards and metal strips.

The proportions of a shortend rear section of the box seem to look a little more proportioned.

What are your thoughts about proportions and look?
