Yeah, I guess the old East Coast is pretty different. When we would run over 13-6, we had to drive it very different. We had to dodge the Light Signals (swing out to the right or left so as not to drive right under them). The worst part was having people look at us a little strange, lol.

Another time I was riding shotgun with about a 13-6, 13-7 load and the driver quickly noticed the wires dancing. I had to get out and climb up on the load (Lumber) and hold the wires while he slowly drove away from them. I knew they were only Phone Wires though as the Electric Wires are higher.

I used to haul a full 3 units high on a flatbed and cross an old early 1900's bridge with a toll booth tunnel at the end of it. I think I cleared it by an inch or two. The Chains were another 1 Inch thick and I would wait for them to scrape the ceiling, but they never did.

Also anything 4 Ft or longer over the back end required a flag, which is still the norm today.

The good 'ol days, lol.
