V8 Vortec swap.
So I am torn in the direction I want to go with engine swaps.
One option is the vortec V8. I would like to find a 5.7L, but the 4.8, 5.3L would be options based on cost, and what jumps into my lap! I want to eventually get a 5 speed manual (most likely a T5, but maybe a NV4500). 1) How much of a PITA is taking an automatic trans motor and mating it to the manual trans? Does the ECU need to be changed? or can it be flashed? or is it a no-go? 2) Is the gauge cluster mandatory to the ECU's function?
