Re: Stamped GMC tailgate.

For those interested in shipping a tailgate, I just shipped one from a later model truck. I made a crate with $35 worth of material from Lowes (2x6 frame, OSB sheeting and 1" foam panel for insulation, plus a big handful of 2" deck screws) then screwed it into a pallet. I used Central Transport to ship it, cost $125 from NJ to GA. You don't need an account with them, you can call them and order a pickup, fill out the BoL on their website and pay them with a credit card (or have the buyer pay when it gets to them). Their rates are incredibly competitive - everyone else wanted at least $50 more. Note that if you don't have a loading dock at each end and require liftgate or residential delivery, the price increases fairly considerably.

I got the idea for the crate from this site.
