Fuel pressure regulator install/setting

So, today I bought a pressure regulator and gauge for my truck.
I have the Edelbrock 1406 carb, a new gm fuel pump, and basically stock system from there. My truck runs good after I replaced the pump and filter, but have that annoying "delayed starting" when it's hot.
About a month ago, there was a thread about the benefits of installing a pressure regulator, at a 3.5 pounds pressure to alleviate the "hot start" issue.
Question for the gurus.
Is there anything, outside of following printed directions, that I need to do to install and calibrate the regulator?
