Beefing Up A 1971 Chevy C20 402

Hey Guys,

I have been using this site nonstop since I started my frame off restoration of my old HS 1971 Chevy C20 Custom. Body wise I am doing ok and have found countless threads to help me out when I get stuck. However, I am completely in the dark with the BB 402!

I am looking to turn the truck into a badass flatbed, truck came with the HD coil springs and the additional split leaf springs. It also has the Manual 4 speed (granny gear) SM465. The truck is a beast and was running well when I started the resto.

How can I beef up my 402 cheaply and effectively? I figured new headers, intake manifold and cam? I hear that the quadrajets aren't too shabby and I don't have the funds to start getting into the pistons and such.

Thanks so much gentlemen!
-Chris
