3 on the tree

I am having some issues with my steering column, with the shifter, turn signals and etc. I was thinking about getting a new one but it seems like nobody make a replacement steering column for 3 on the tree. I was advised to rebuild mine but then again when I search online I really don't find much information. Any suggestions? Does rebuild is a serious challenge? I was told that the replacement parts are also hard to come by for 3 on the tree column and shifter. Is there any other later model column which can work?
Thanks,
