My Great uncles 1950 Chevy
So I figured it was time to start a build thread of a project of mine that has been 16 years in the making.
Quick(ish) history.......when I was 14 years old my dad discovered that my great uncles 1950 chevy pickup resided at a local neighbors farm and after a few months of doing anything I could to make money it was mine for a cool $600. With a boost and a quick tire fill we drove the truck on the backroads with no brakes back to the farm. Unsure of what to do with the truck at the time it was driven around for fun until a plan was made to restore it to a fun lil driver pickup.....Yanked out a running 4 bolt main 350 from a 1970 farm truck in the weeds and planned to "drop in a sbc, auto trans, fix the brakes and steering and get er on the road".........So it turns out that limited funds slowed this process along with a busy lifestyle, going to college and eventually working for a living....who would have thought haha..... The project was put on hold for a few years until I started saving to re-kindle the desire to finish this truck. I rebuilt the 350 into a nice runner 383 for some initiative and purchased a mustang 2/ rear 4 link setup for a smooth "modernized" ride. The last few years the truck has slowly started to come together between family, hunting/fishing/sledding trips and of course work schedule. I will filter in some pictures of my progress to the rolling chassis with a majority of the sheet metal installed as it sits to this day. This is how the truck looked when my Uncle Hugo owned it back many moons ago |
