1966 C20 Paint Code Tag search request
Well, hopefully you have read weirder requests than this by more obsessive "purists" than I am, but if not, I'll take the weirdo request of the day award LOL. I will make it worth your time $$ wise if any of you good Americans happen to have or know someone who has, a 1966 Custom Camper or Custom Cab C20 3/4 ton parts truck sitting around somewhere or know where one is in a junkyard that you can get me a paint code trim tag stamped with a color and trim designation I want to find. I am looking for either a Dark Aqua & White, Black & White or Light Blue & White paint code on the aluminum tag inside on the kick panel. These tags are completely un-related to the trucks' VIN etc so no harm whatsoever removing or switching these around to match up for paint restorations. I want to change the color on my 66 Custom Camper from solid White to one of these three combinations and certainly do not have to switch the tag to do so, but I would love to match the tag with my paint choice if it is do-able. You guys are definitely the right guys to ask. I would also take a tag w/ a paint code showing solid Black (500) or Solid Dark Aqua (511) too.
So a "Custom Camper" truck was always exactly that - a truck with the Custom Cab option. With that, the kick panel tag will always say Z62 or maybe Z82 or something like that stamped in the "TRIM" code box, designating it as a Custom optioned truck and in the pant code box it would be stamped 537 for two tone light blue and white, 500 for solid black etc. I'm not sure what the two tone code is on Dark Aqua & White but I will find out from Jon Krogh or somebody who has a 66 Data Book if you find a tag and can send me what the code on it is. So I need a C20 paint tag off a custom cab 66 C20 truck otherwise it wont have the Z62 trim code on it. Has to be a 66 because otherwise the 327 engine wouldn't show on the tag either. Out West or somewhere theres an old C20 body sitting around that nobody wanted because it was a longbed or 3/4 ton etc thats been sitting for decades part-robbed but not yet crushed and that might be where one of you will find a tag like I need....will pay good money well worth your time if you find a good one. I would also trade my Custom Campers tag to someone who simply doesn't care what their tag says paint code wise Let me know if anyone has a prospect for me? Thanks, Merry Christmas and Roll Tide Roll Steve in Sweet Home Alabama
