Throttle cable replacement, and what's the deal with the ball stud?

This is the carb. side of the throttle cable off my 71. It's probably factory. I believe this was on all 71-72 350-402 2WD C-10-30 trucks.

Apparently the stud pushes into place. I'm unable to confirm via the web (no phone call) that any replacements come with this stud. Can anyone shed some light on this? In other words, can you recommend a good cable with/without stud, are the studs separate, involves a modification at the carb., cut the old one out, etc.? I'm trying to keep the truck as original as possible. Thank you.
