5 groove internal regulated alternator upgrade.
When I did my motor swap awhile back I chose to go with the serpentine style belt the engine was set up with. I bought a new 72 alternator and just put the newer style pulley on it. I worked fine for a season but now the pulley just keeps coming loose. I've done a little research about unhooking the regulator and looping 2 sets of the wires. I'm wondering who has done it and what alternator you've used. I've also seen some people add a resistor inline to the alternator, is that necessary for the swap I'm talking about. I believe it's a 10 or 12si I'm looking for, perhaps from a mid 80's camaro?
Thanks in advance. I haven't messed with it in awhile and can't find some of the info I found before.
