Removing turn signal switch

I recently picked up an auto steering column and I'm in the process of cleaning it up. I was wanting to remove the turn signal switch assembly, but the hazard switch is making it just a bit difficult...

From what I can tell you can't remove the hazard switch, so how do you get it out (the assembly) without breaking it (hazard switch)?

thanks!
