HEI Problems---I nearly cried today.
So I rip out my original points distributor, coil, wires, and resistor wire.
Dig the BRAND NEW HEI out of a box in the garage. (had it for over 2 years already) Stick it in the engine, installed brand new plug wires, and spent some time cleaning up the wiring under the hood, and running a new wire for the HEI. Well once I'm ready I hit the key....it cranks, but no fire....Hmmmmmmmm. I go over all my wiring, check it with a meter, all is well...still no fire. End up pulling the wires off the cap, and disconnecting the power to it. (key on...bad idea) Well I know the coil works!! ZZZAAAPPPPPPPPP!!! So anyway after a couple of hours out in the cold, I figure out that the damn module inside is screwed. I was so pissed because it is a brand new unit. But in all reality, is was more disheartened than mad. So I had to mess around and put that damn points distributor back in, so I could drive it. Guess, I will find the new parts tomorrow. Thanks for listening. ------------------ Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada 1970 Chevy C20 Custom Camper #s matching 402BB Turbo 400 trans.
