Electric fuel pump not pumping, Carter P4600HP

Well, I finally got my truck running again but had issues with it dying while driving around. I had put a carter electric pump on it and after a few miles the fuel pressure would drop. I changed the filter and found rust in it so figured there was some rust in the lines or tank. But then had the pump not pump even after the filter change. Also I had a russel pre filter with a 40 micron screen that had some debris but was not totally blocked. So I took the pump apart and found that there is a screen in the fuel pump and was plugging up. Cleaned it up and pump worked fine but the tank is shot so I ordered a new tank.
