Smile 250 Valve Cover Breather Question.

My question is breather or no breather needed? I have read here that some folks recommend installing a valve cover breather in the oil filler hole instead of just a cap. My 235 6's all had one but this 250 doesn't. This engine has the PCV valve at the back of the cover and another hose from the side, at the front of the cover running up to the carb riser. If the answer is to run a breather then why wouldn't GM have put one on the engine to start with? I can only guess that it has something to do with emissions. The answer to my questions usually comes to me in my dreams but no one seems to be listening anymore! Have a good one eh!
