Flexplate replacement
Bought this one about 4 moths ago. Found it on Craigslist, but never followed up on it. I was eating a burger (at S&B, great burgers) and saw it pull into the parking lot. I went out immediately. Said "it runs good, but it's got a cracked flexplate." It was very noisy. May scare some, but most of us on here know it's about an hour and a half job to swap one out. Made a deal on it. Been parked in front of my shop until yesterday. Pulled it in, pulled the dust cover and found the torque converter and flexplate would move side to side about a 1/4". Pulled the drive shaft, unhooked the tranny linkage, disconnected the tranny lines from the radiator, removed tranny mount bolts, removed 2 bottom tranny bolts and replaced with 4" bolts, removed the other 4 bolts, unbolted the torque converter, jacked up the back of the tranny, and moved the tranny back about 1 1/2". 5 of the flexplate bolts I removed by hand, the other was just over hand tight. Obviously the holes were a little wallowed out. New flexplate was already on-hand. Had to order some new ARP replacement bolts from the local Orielly's and will be on the road this afternoon.
