Packaging glue on NOS Trim

I recently purchased a set of NOS wood grain moldings for a K20 restoration I am going. To my disappointment, when they arrived, the GM packaging was stuck to the pieces, and when removed, leaves behind a residue on the aluminum and the wood grain. Iv tried several different products, and acetone seems to be the only thing that will remove the residue from the aluminum, and I’m afraid to use it on the wood grain. Has anyone experienced this, and Has anyone been successful removing this residue?

Regards,

Jonathan
