72 no power at distributor

i swaped a 72 c10 with a 350 on to my 72 k10 frame that has a big block and now the distributor doesn't have 12 v all the emission equipment was intact if i put a jumper wire in the switch thats connected to vacuum on the intake will that complete the circuit and make it fire cause the only way i can make it run is to hook direct to the battery to power the distributor
