Re: My Big Fat Renovation
That was 100% my reasoning for adding the accent roof over the deck. The door that's on there now is the THIRD french door. I replaced the first one that didn't have flashing a couple years after we bought the house. I flashed the 2nd door, but the damn rain actually rotted the door bottoms themselves (that door is in shade all but a couple hours in the morning) so I finally added the 2' overhang. So far so good!
The shop doors will be wrapped in tin and PVC trim, so that should be fine and I'm using metal doors back with heavy foam insulation so they should be fine. These roofs will be more for looks, the doors are so tall any sideways rain will get the bottoms wet. The extra shade on yours will be nice too! I thought about building out the back another 10' (like a lean to) but I'm so far past my original time/money, etc... I don't need it. It keeps me at a car limit. I don't need anymore than I have.
