Clear coat on a new master cylinder
I just put a brake master cylinder in my 73 Jimmy. After thoroughly cleaning it, I applied 2 coats of clear coat (like I always do) before bench bleeding it.
It occurred to me, not everybody realizes this is an option. I have been clear coating new master cylinders for ...20 years, maybe? I thoroughly clean the outside of the master cylinder with brake clean, let it dry, and spray it with 2 coats of clear spray paint. It ain't perfect, but it does add some level of rust prevention. I have had master cylinders that were [at least] 5 years old with almost zero rust. Anyways just thought I'd share that tip. Results may vary -Russ
